- ✓ Resist the urge to correct hypotheses early. Let imperfect hypotheses survive into the Experiment stage; that's where they get refined, not in the Hypothesis stage.
- ✓ Keep the Extending task communicative. A gap-fill exercise is not an Extending task — it's still practice. The structure needs to be necessary for a real message.

"My students just want the rule."

Keep Hypothesis-stage groups small (pairs work better than groups of four) and set a hard time limit. The goal is a quick proposal, not an extended debate.
