Unit 7 – Celebrations

Vocabulary – Grammar – Functions – Reading – Writing

Level: 1st Year Baccalaureate – Textbook: Ticket to English 1

ماذا ستتعلم في Unit 7 – Celebrations؟

في هذه الوحدة تتعرفون على معجم خاص بـ الاحتفالات (Eid, weddings, birthdays…)، و تراجعون Relative clauses، و تتعلمون كيف تعتذرون بالإنجليزية، و تقرؤون نصاً عن Mother’s Day، ثم تكتبون بريدًا إلكترونيًا عن احتفال في المغرب.

1. Vocabulary – Celebrations

Focus: Words and expressions about different celebrations, people, activities and objects used in parties and religious or family events.

  • Types of celebrations: Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha, Achoura, New Year’s Day, weddings, birthdays.
  • People: host, guest, bride, groom, relatives, neighbours, friends.
  • Verbs: celebrate, invite, organise, decorate, get together, give gifts, congratulate.
  • Things: candles, cake, presents, traditional clothes, fireworks, cards, sweets.

نصيحة للمعجم

اربطوا كل كلمة بصورة أو مثال من حياتكم (حفلة زفاف حقيقية، عيد ميلاد، Eid…)، و كرروا هذه الكلمات في جمل قصيرة لتثبيتها في الذاكرة.

2. Grammar – Relative Clauses

Focus: Defining relative clauses with who, which, that, whose, where to describe people, things and places related to celebrations.

  • who → for people: A bride is a woman who is getting married.
  • which / that → for things: I like songs that make people dance.
  • whose → possession: He is the man whose son lives abroad.
  • where → places: This is the hall where we celebrate weddings.

كيف تفهم Relative clauses؟

الجملة الموصولة تعطي معلومات أساسية عن الاسم قبلها. إذا حذفتها تصبح الجملة غير واضحة، لذلك نحتاجها لنشرح الشخص أو الشيء أو المكان.

3. Functions – Apologising

Focus: Saying sorry politely and responding to apologies in everyday situations, especially during celebrations.

  • Saying sorry: I’m sorry / I’m really sorry / I didn’t mean to… / I apologise for… / Please forgive me for…
  • Responding: That’s OK / Never mind / It doesn’t matter / Don’t worry about it / No problem.
  • Use: arriving late to a party, breaking something, forgetting to call, making noise, etc.

لماذا نتعلم الاعتذار؟

في الاحتفالات يمكن أن نقع في أخطاء صغيرة: نتأخر، نكسر شيئاً… تعلم عبارات الاعتذار يساعدكم على التواصل باحترام و تهذيب بالإنجليزية.

4. Reading – Mother’s Day

Focus: Reading a text about Mother’s Day and how people celebrate it in different countries, then answering comprehension questions.

  • Pre‑reading: vocabulary (celebration, calendar, honour, tradition, card) + prediction about the text.
  • While‑reading: main idea, multiple choice, True/False/Not Stated, WH‑questions.
  • Post‑reading: discussion and a short paragraph about Mother’s Day or another celebration in Morocco.

نصيحة للقراءة

قبل قراءة النص عن Mother’s Day، فكروا: كيف نشكر أمهاتنا في ثقافتنا؟ بعد القراءة، قارنوا بين عادات الدول الأخرى و عاداتنا في المغرب.

5. Writing – E-mail about a Celebration

Focus: Writing an 80–100 word informal e‑mail to a foreign friend about an important celebration in Morocco (Eid, Achoura, wedding, birthday…).

  • Model e‑mail about Eid Al‑Fitr: when it is, what people do, why the writer likes it.
  • Parts of the e‑mail: greeting, opening, body (details), closing, ending.
  • Plan → draft → edit with checklist → clean final version.

كيف تكتب عن احتفال؟

فكّر في: اسم الاحتفال، متى يكون، ماذا يفعل الناس، ماذا يلبسون و ماذا يأكلون، ثم أضف رأيك الشخصي: لماذا تحبه و ماذا تشعر في ذلك اليوم.
